Beautiful October: Letting Autumn Papers Shine - November Scraplift Challenge
Hello, crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing a layout that pairs two stunning sunset photos with the warm colors and cozy patterns of autumn using the beautiful Pretty Little Studio Ginger Snap collection. I wanted the patterned papers to play a big part in telling the story, drawing out the fiery oranges, rich reds, and golden tones in the photographs. This paper Collection does just that!
The design is our November Scraplift challenge in the Pretty Little Studio Fans Facebook group - created by Tara with cascading triangles down the page. I hope you’ll join us and create your own page with this fun design!
I arranged my triangles of patterned paper into a vertical patchwork that runs from the top to the bottom. This repeating shape gives each print its own little space to shine while bringing all those cozy autumn colors together. The mustard gingham (September Afternoon paper) patterned paper, adds a cozy touch and provides a repeating pattern throughout. Between those pieces, I mixed delicate scattered leaves (Dried Flowers paper) a larger botanical print (Raking Leaves paper) and a vintage-inspired text pattern (Hike in the Woods paper)
Leaving white space on either side keeps the rich patterns from overwhelming the photographs. The overlapping sunset photos sit slightly to the right of the paper arrangement, connecting the geometric background with the softer shapes of the florals. I drive East to work every morning and the big Oklahoma October sky gives me a beautiful show each day. I’m always in awe of its beauty!!
I added clusters of flowers and leafy branches in coordinating shades of rust, mustard, and brown from Ginger Snap dried flowers die cuts pack. These details soften the straight lines and help guide the eye between the photos and the title. The bold “Beautiful” title (Ginger Snap loving life titles) stretches across the lower portion of the page, while “Captured” adds a smaller accent near the top. I also used Well Read Collection Rust Tile ABC stickers to complete my title.
This layout is a lovely way to showcase several favorite autumn papers together—and a great opportunity to use smaller pieces from your collection. Try combining a familiar gingham or plaid with leafy prints and a little text for a patchwork full of warmth!
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy crafting!
Shanel
