Hi Friends! Today I have a layout for the August Sketch Challenge. You will be able to play along with this and the other August challenges for a chance to win the monthly prize! All of the information is on the Facebook group linked above.  This lovely sketch was inspired by a layout from designer, Misty Foresman.

For my layout, I am using the Candy Cane collection. I started with the Wish List paper as my background.  I chose the Holiday Tradition paper next and cut out several of the squares in a variety of colors and patterns. I stitched a simple running stitch in white thread around the edges not measuring my holes or being too particular. I just wanted some fun texture and extra interest.  I popped up my squares in three areas similar to where the sketch used the hexagons.  (my squares were bigger so I used less)

To embellish I used some diecuts from the Merry Mix pack. I added some foam adhesive behind some of the diecuts as well. My title is from the Festive Treat Words diecut pack.  My photo mat was cut from the packaging of one of the punch out diecut packages. The sketch made this an easy layout to complete and I had a lot of fun making it!
